Westend Greens Residential Project: A Cinematic Space Shaped by Collaboration

Designed to be experienced, not just viewed.
The Westend Greens Residential Project was conceived as more than a home cinema. It was envisioned as an immersive environment, one where design and sound, materiality and craftsmanship come together to create a space that feels purposeful from the moment you enter.
Rather than leaning into theatricality, the focus was on restraint, creating a carefully layered interior that balances performance with warmth, and precision with comfort.
The Brief: Creating an Immersive Yet Timeless Experience
The client’s brief centered around experience. The space needed to perform at a cinematic level while remaining visually calm and deeply personal – an environment that could host screenings, gatherings, and quiet moments with ease.
This wasn’t about replicating a commercial theatre. It was about interpreting cinema within a residential context where comfort, proportion, and material quality take precedence.

Material Language and Spatial Flow
Warm wood panelling wraps the space, forming a continuous envelope that enhances acoustics while grounding the interiors visually. Stone surfaces and textured wall treatments add depth, preventing the room from feeling flat or overly dark.
Lighting plays a critical role here – concealed, layered, and deliberately soft. It defines circulation, highlights architectural curves, and supports the overall mood without distracting from the screen or the experience.

Custom Furniture as the Backbone of the Space
Furniture and millwork for the project were entirely designed and executed by FTS by Sharmilee, allowing each element to respond precisely to the space it occupies.
The seating layout was developed alongside the cinema design to ensure clear sightlines, comfort, and seamless integration of controls and accessories. In the adjoining entertainment areas, bespoke seating, tables, and cabinetry continue the same language.
Rather than standing apart, the furniture becomes part of the architecture, quietly supporting how the space is used.

Sound, Cinema, and Technical Precision
For a project of this nature, sound design was integral from the outset. McBee collaborated closely with the design team to ensure acoustics, speaker placement, and technical infrastructure were fully integrated into the architecture.
Walls, ceilings, and finishes were detailed to conceal technology while allowing it to perform at its highest level. The result is an immersive audio-visual experience that feels effortless.

A Collaborative Process
What truly shaped the Westend Greens Residential Project was collaboration.
Interior Design & Architecture: Pinky Pandit in collaboration with FTS by Sharmilee
Furniture & Millworks: FTS by Sharmilee
Sound & Cinema Design: McBee
Flooring: Span Floors
Pool Table: Argmac
Each partner brought specialised expertise to the table, allowing the space to evolve through dialogue rather than hierarchy. Design decisions were made collectively ensuring that aesthetics, performance, and craftsmanship were always aligned.
This collaborative approach allowed the project to move beyond a single vision, becoming instead a shared outcome shaped by precision and trust.

A Space Designed to Endure
The Westend Greens Residential Project is not driven by trends. Its strength lies in proportion, material integrity, and thoughtful detailing with elements that will remain relevant long after the novelty of technology evolves.
It is a space built for experience, but grounded in design values that prioritise longevity. One that adapts to how it is lived in, rather than asking to be constantly reinvented.

At FTS by Sharmilee, projects like this reinforce our belief that the most compelling interiors emerge through collaboration when design, craft, and technical expertise work in quiet harmony.
The Westend Greens Residential Project stands as a reflection of that philosophy: immersive, personal, and thoughtfully resolved. View more of the project here.
