At FTS by Sharmilee, we see art not as an afterthought, but as an integral part of the design language – as important as the materials we select or the way light moves through a room. Artwork can anchor a space, soften it, create rhythm, or introduce tension. When chosen with care, it becomes a subtle extension of architecture – offering depth, emotion, and texture to everyday life.

Art as Atmosphere

Rather than treat walls as blank canvases to be filled later, we design with art in mind from the outset. We think about tone, light, and spatial composition — considering where a painting might ground a room, where a sculpture might draw the eye, or how a quiet corner might hold a more introspective piece.

Art adds visual rhythm, yes — but it also contributes to the emotional architecture of a home. A well-placed work can invite pause, spark conversation, or simply become a part of the room’s daily stillness.

Letting the Space Speak

There’s no one-size-fits-all formula. Some homes call for bold, graphic pieces that interrupt clean lines. Others ask for soft, textural works that echo the materials in the room. We read the space—and the person it belongs to—to determine how art might live there.

Sometimes a single work becomes the heart of a space. Other times, a quiet piece tucked into a hallway does the deeper work of grounding and slowing the eye.

Working with Artists from Art Incept

Art Incept is a contemporary art platform that nurtures young South Asian artists while offering thoughtful curation to collectors. Our collaboration with them enables us to introduce our clients to a diverse range of emerging voices and original works, from figurative canvases to sculptural installations.

This not only elevates the spatial experience but also encourages clients to engage with art as an evolving practice – something they live with, not just look at.

Scale, Framing & Placement: The Final Layer

Once a piece is chosen, we assist with scaling, framing, and final placement, ensuring that the artwork feels truly embedded in the home. Our eye for balance, light, and material adjacency helps bring each piece to life within the architecture it inhabits.

We often customise plinths, wall niches, or even lighting to honour a particular work – because how an artwork is held within a space matters just as much as the work itself.

Evolving Collections Over Time

We encourage our clients to think of their home as an evolving canvas. The artworks you live with should grow with you – emotionally, intellectually, and visually.

Whether you’re beginning your collection or adding to one, we facilitate ongoing access to Art Incept’s portfolio, so your relationship with art continues to deepen over time.

Art is often the most personal element in a home and we’re honoured to be part of that selection process – helping our clients find pieces that reflect who they are, and who they’re becoming.

Through our collaboration we make this process accessible, intentional, and deeply rewarding.

Looking to begin your own collection? We’d love to help you curate a space that feels wholly your own.
